How To Make Baked Garlic and Herb Grits

This Baked Garlic and Herb Grits make a hearty and comforting main dish to complete a gathering.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups water
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1 ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 cups grits, uncooked regular
  • 13 oz garlic and herb-flavored spreadable cheese , or 2 containers
  • 1 tsp seasoned pepper
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese, shredded
  • 4 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 8 bacon slices, cooked and crumbled
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Boil the water, milk, and salt together in a large saucepan over medium-high heat; gradually stir in grits.

  2. Return to a boil and reduce heat to low.

  3. Cook, covered, over low heat, stirring often, 20 minutes or until done.

  4. Stir in spreadable cheese, pepper, and Parmesan cheese.

  5. Stir about 1/4 of grits mixture gradually into beaten eggs then add remaining grits mixture, stirring constantly.

  6. Pour into a lightly greased 13 X 9 inch baking dish.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees F for 45 to 55 minutes or until golden and set.

  8. Sprinkle each serving with bacon and parsley.
