How To Make Holiday Mulled Wine
Give your holiday guests a festive buzzed with this mulled wine recipe that features a combination of dried fruits, spices, and your favorite brandy.

Ingredients
- 3star anise pods
- 3allspice berries
- 6whole black peppercorns
- 3cinnamon sticks
- 1large orange
- 6whole cloves
- 3bottlesfruity red wine
- 1½cupsbrandy,or Grand Marnier
- 1cupdried whole figs
- 1cupapricots,chopped, dried
- 1cupcherries,dried
- 1cupprunes,dried, pitted, and chopped
- 3hibiscus flowers,optional, for garnish
Instructions

Place a large square of cheesecloth on the cutting board. Add the star anise, allspice berries, peppercorns, and cinnamon sticks directly to the center. Tie up the cheesecloth with the twine to make a small package and set aside.

Take the orange and stud it with the cloves. In a large, non-aluminum pot over medium heat, add the sachet, clove-studded orange, wine, and brandy.

Stir to combine. Then add all of the dried fruit.

Cook over medium heat for 10 minutes until the wine begins to simmer. Reduce heat to low, then simmer for about 30 minutes until flavors have melded.

To serve, ladle out the spiced wine and some fruit to each glass. Garnish with hibiscus flowers, if desired. Serve immediately.
