Ever heard of horehound tea? It may sound weird, but it’s an all-natural tea that’s healthy and perfect for cold days. Although this horehound recipe can yield a bitter tea, adding honey and lemon balances the bitterness out.

How To Make Horehound Tea

Keep warm during cold days with a cup of horehound tea. It’s an aromatic tea sweetened by honey and brightened with lemon juice.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup horehound leaves, fresh, or ¼ cups dried
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tsp lemon juice

For Garnish:

  • 1 tsp anise seeds, optional

Instructions

  1. Boil water in a pot and add the tea leaves. Let it steep for about 10 minutes. Boil the leaves longer for a stronger tea.
  2. Strain the tea leaves once done. Add honey and lemon juice. Add more honey as preferred.
  3. Pour the tea into cups and garnish with anise seeds. Serve warm. Take 2 to 3 cups per day or as needed.
