How To Make Smoky Apple Cider Mezcal Margarita

This mezcal margarita recipe is an ideal drink this fall. Using only three ingredients, it creates a marvelous blend of smoky, sweet, and tart.

Ingredients

For Margarita:

  • 2ozmezcal
  • 2ozapple ciderhomemade or store-bought
  • 1ozlime juicefreshly-squeezed
  • applesdiced (Optional garnish)
  • cinnamon stick(Optional garnish)

For Salt Rim Garnish:

  • 1Tbspcoarse kosher salt
  • 1Tbspsugargranulated or brown
  • 1tspground ginger
  • 1lime

Instructions

Margarita:

  1. Begin by salting the rims of your glasses, if desired.

  2. Add mezcal, apple cider, and lime juice to a cocktail shaker, and shake or stir until combined.

  3. Fill glass with ice. Pour in the margarita mixture over the rocks.

  4. Serve immediately, garnished with diced apples and a cinnamon stick, if desired.

Salt rim garnish:

  1. Whisk together the salt, sugar, and ground ginger in a shallow bowl until combined.

  2. Run a slice of lime around the top edge of your glass, then dip it in the ginger mixture.

Recipe Notes

 

If you want the mixture to be sweeter, stir in ½ teaspoon of maple syrup or agave nectar at a time, until the mix reaches your desired level of sweetness.
