How To Make Red Velvet Peppermint Whoopie Pies

These vibrant whoopie pies are the perfect holiday treats. The cookies made of red velvet flavored with peppermint sandwich a rich cream cheese filling.

  • 15½ozred velvet cake mix,(1 package)
  • ½cupvegetable oil
  • 2eggs,lightly beaten
  • 2tsppeppermint extract

Cream Cheese Filling:

  • 8ozcream cheese,(2 packages), at room temperature
  • ½cupbutter,at room temperature
  • 2tspvanilla extract
  • 2cupspowdered sugar


  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. Mix cake mix, oil, eggs, and peppermint extract together in a bowl.

  3. Roll the dough into walnut-size balls and space about 2 inches apart on a cookie sheet.

  4. Bake in the preheated oven for about 8 minutes until the tops of the cookies start to crack. Take out of the oven and let cool on the pan for about 5 minutes before moving to a cooling rack.

  5. Beat cream cheese, butter, and vanilla extract together in a bowl with an electric mixer. Add powdered sugar a little at a time to reach desired consistency, or to sweeten to desired level.

  6. Spread filling between 2 cooled cookies.
