Serves:
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 1/2 cup cold water
Instructions
-
In a large bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Add in cold butter and use a pastry cutter to cut it into the flour until coarse crumbs form.
-
Slowly add in cold water, 1 tablespoon at a time, and mix until a dough forms. Be careful not to overmix.
-
Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a ball. Wrap them in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
-
Roll out each portion of dough on a lightly floured surface into a circle about 1/8 inch thick.
-
Place your desired filling in the center of each dough circle.
-
Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Use a fork to press the edges together and seal the pie.
-
Heat oil in a deep pan or skillet over medium heat. Carefully place the pies in the oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
-
Remove the fried pies from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
-
Serve hot and enjoy!
