How To Make Double Pie Crust

  • 1⅔ cupsall-purpose flour
  • 1tspsalt
  • ¾cupshortening
  • 5tbsporange juicecold, as needed


  1. Combine the flour and salt in a large bowl.

  2. Cut the shortening into the flour mixture until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  3. Add orange juice a tablespoon at a time, tossing with a fork, until the flour mixture is moistened.

  4. When squeezing a handful of the moistened pastry mixture, it should form a ball.

  5. Divide the dough in half and shape into balls.

  6. Wrap in plastic, then refrigerate before rolling.
