Peanut Butter Ice Cream Recipe

Peanut Butter Ice Cream Recipe

Making homemade ice cream is one of the ways I get to bond with my family, especially with my kids. I get to creatively show them the ins and outs of their favorite dessert treat. So far, I’ve made a handful of classic flavored ice cream desserts at home such as chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. But, this time, I wanted to try something different. Instead of the basic and popular ice cream flavors, I decided to make a homemade peanut butter ice cream instead.

I started out with classic ice cream recipes because the smooth base made it perfect for my kids to go crazy with their favorite toppings. However, with this peanut butter ice cream, they get to taste a creamier and sweeter ice cream with peanut butter cups as one of its main ingredients. My kids also love munching on some Reese’s peanut butter cups. That’s why I made sure to include it in this recipe to make a flavored chocolate peanut butter ice cream variation, which is perfect for a peanut butter lover.

Aside from the peanut butter cups, for this recipe, I combined peanut butter with heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, and vanilla extract. I used a blender first and then transferred it to the ice cream maker to really achieve that smooth and creamy peanut butter ice cream consistency. I waited for a few minutes and then added the chopped peanut butter cups as the finishing touch.

By this time, my kids were eagerly waiting for me to scoop ice cream out of the machine and into their sugar cones. I told them to wait a bit since it needed to freeze properly, and turn into scoopable ice cream desserts. So, I covered the homemade peanut butter ice cream with plastic wrap and then placed it in the freezer. After a few hours, it was ready for eating and decorating!

It turned out to be the best peanut butter ice cream since it was really creamy and delightful. This recipe is perfect for a peanut butter lover (like me!). My favorite part was the peanut butter cups which seemed to add flavor and texture to the ice cream. Honestly, it was a topping on its own, and it really got me thinking that I should try making a peanut butter sauce for ice cream as another topping option for my kids to enjoy.
