How To Make Dream Bars
Savor each bite of these delightful 2-layer dream bars that have shredded coconut, chopped pecans, and oatmeal for chewy and chunky baked treats.

Ingredients
For Bottom Layer:
- ½cupshortening
- ½cupbrown sugar,packed
- 1cupall purpose flour
- ½tspsalt
- ½cupquick cooking oats
For Upper Layer:
- 1cupbrown sugar,packed
- 1tspvanilla extract
- 2eggs
- 2tbspall purpose flour
- ½cupcoconut,shredded
- ½tspbaking powder
- ½cuppecans,chopped
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Bottom Layer:

Cream the shortening with brown sugar. Add the flour, salt, and oats and blend.

Press into the bottom of 1 8×12-inch baking dish.

Bake for 15 minutes.
Upper Layer:

Beat the eggs well. Then, beat in the brown sugar and the vanilla. Stir in the flour and baking powder, blending well.

Stir in the coconut and pecans. Spread over the top of the baked bottom layer.

Return the dish to the oven and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes at 300 degrees F. Let cool.
