How To Make Deluxe Chocolate Marshmallow Bars

Delight in the combo of textures in these chocolate marshmallow bars made with a cake base, studded with walnuts, then topped with peanut butter chocolate.

Ingredients

  • ¾cupbutter
  • cupswhite sugar
  • 3eggs
  • 1tspvanilla extract
  • 1⅓cupsall purpose flour
  • ½tspbaking powder
  • ½tspsalt
  • 3tbspcocoa powder
  • ½cupwalnuts,chopped
  • 4cupsminiature marshmallows
  • 1⅓cupssemi sweet chocolate chips
  • 3tbspbutter
  • 1cuppeanut butter
  • 2cupscrisp rice cereal

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. In a mixing bowl, cream ¾ cup of butter or margarine and sugar. Add the eggs and vanilla, then beat until fluffy.

  3. Combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and cocoa; add to creamed mixture. Stir in nuts if desired. Spread in a greased jelly roll pan.

  4. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes. Sprinkle marshmallows evenly over the cake. Return to oven for 2 to 3 minutes.

  5. Using a knife dipped in water, spread the melted marshmallows evenly over the cake. Cool.

  6. For the topping, combine the chocolate chips, 3 tablespoons butter or margarine, and peanut butter in a small saucepan.

  7. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until melted and well blended. Remove from heat, then stir in the cereal.

  8. Spread over bars, then chill. Serve and enjoy!
