How To Make Kermit’s Muffuletta Recipe
An iconic New Orleans sandwich loaded with layers of meat, cheese, and a tangy olive salad.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 large round loaf of bread
- 1/2 cup of olive oil
- 2 tbsp of red wine vinegar
- 1/4 cup of chopped kalamata olives
- 1/4 cup of chopped green olives
- 1/4 cup of chopped pepperoncini
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp of dried oregano
- 1/4 lb of provolone cheese, thinly sliced
- 1/4 lb of mortadella, thinly sliced
- 1/4 lb of salami, thinly sliced
- 1/4 lb of ham, thinly sliced
Instructions

Slice the loaf of bread in half horizontally and pull out some of the soft interior to create a cavity in both halves.

In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, red wine vinegar, chopped olives, pepperoncini, garlic, and oregano.

Spread half of the olive salad on the bottom half of the bread.

Layer the provolone cheese, mortadella, salami, and ham on top of the olive salad.

Spread the remaining olive salad on top of the meat.

Place the top half of the bread over the meat and olive salad.

Wrap the sandwich tightly with plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator for at least an hour.

When ready to serve, unwrap the sandwich and slice into quarters.
