How To Make Chi-Chi’s Churros Recipe

Crispy and fluffy fried dough covered in cinnamon sugar – a classic Mexican treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, bring water, butter, and salt to a boil.

  2. Reduce heat and stir in flour until dough forms.

  3. Remove from heat and add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition until smooth.

  4. In a separate bowl, combine sugar and cinnamon.

  5. Heat vegetable oil in a large pot until it reaches 375°F.

  6. Transfer dough to a piping bag with a star tip.

  7. Carefully pipe 4-inch strips of dough into hot oil, frying until golden brown.

  8. Remove from oil and allow to drain on a paper towel-lined plate.

  9. Toss churros in cinnamon sugar mixture to coat.

  10. Serve warm.
