How To Make Yankee Grits

This Yankee grits recipe is the ultimate breakfast. Smoky bacon and sunny eggs, mixed with fresh chives and sharp cheddar. A filling and hearty breakfast for all.

  • 1 cup low fat milk, or water
  • 2 tsp pure maple syrup
  • pinch salt
  • ¼ cup quick cooking grits
  • 2 tbsp raisins, dried cranberries or chopped dried fruit


  1. In a saucepan combine milk or water, maple syrup, and salt. Bring to a boil over high heat.
  2. Slowly add the grits while whisking. Then lower heat to medium.
  3. Cover and cook for 3 to 4 minutes or until grits has thickened. Stir occasionally.
  4. Let it settle for 1 minute. Sprinkle raisins or dried fruit just before serving.
