How To Make Bacon-Wrapped Onion Appetizer

Marinated onion wedges wrapped in bacon and grilled to a crisp.

  • 2 large Vidalia onions, peeled and cut into wedges
  • 8 rashers bacon, cut in half, thick hickory-smoked
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tbsp molasses


  1. Wrap onion wedges with bacon; secure with long wooden picks.
  2. Place in a large shallow dish.
  3. Combine sugar, vinegar, and molasses; drizzle over onion wedges.
  4. Cover and chill 1 hour.
  5. Remove onion wedges from marinade, reserving marinade.
  6. Grill bacon-wrapped onions, covered, over medium-high heat 20 minutes.
  7. Turn and baste occasionally with reserved marinade.
