How To Make Corn Dogs

A simple recipe for the all-American classic corn dogs! A wonderfully crisp outer shell with a light and fluffy interior and a steaming juicy hot dog in the center can't be beat!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • oil , for deep frying
  • 1 lb hot dogs

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, salt and chili powder.
  2. In a small bowl, beat eggs with milk and ¼ cup oil.

  3. Pour liquid ingredients into dry ingredients and whisk together until batter is smooth.
  4. Heat oil in the deep fryer to 360 degrees F.

  5. Insert a popsicle stick into each hot dog.
  6. Using the stick as a handle, dip each hot dog into batter and turn to coat evenly.
  7. Fry corn dogs several at a time until golden, about 3 to 5 minutes.
  8. Drain on paper towel.
  9. Your children will enjoy making this all-time favorite at home.
  10. Serve with ketchup, mustard, and plenty of napkins.
