How To Make Bratwurst in Beer with Sauerkraut Relish
Ingredients
- 6 bratwursts, fresh
- 3 cans beer, 12 oz
- 6 soft French sandwich rolls , or hot dog buns, split and toasted
- Mustard, various, as desired
For Sauerkraut Relish:
- 3 tbsp vinegar
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp pickling spice
- 1 tsp caraway seed
- 8 oz sauerkraut, rinsed and drained
- 1/4 cup sweet red pepper, finely chopped

Prick several holes in the skin of the bratwurst.

In a large pot, combine bratwurst and beer. Bring to a boil.

Reduce the heat and simmer, covered for about 20 minutes or until the sausage is no longer pink. Drain.

Grill bratwursts over medium heat for 7 to 8 minutes or until bratwurst skins are golden, turning frequently.

Serve on rolls or buns with mustard and sauerkraut relish if desired.
Preparing the relish

Combine vinegar and sugar. Cook and stir until sugar is dissolved.

Stir in pickling spice and caraway seed.
