This Popeye biscuit recipe gives you a rich and flaky baked dish that you can now make at home. These biscuits are the perfect side dish.

  • 2 cup AP flour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • tsp salt
  • tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ cup butter, cold
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • ¼ cup milk

For Brushing:

  • 2 tbsp butter, melted


  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together all dry ingredients; flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
  3. Slice butter into small chunks and add into the dry ingredients. Use a knife to mix as you cut the butter into small pieces or use a pastry blender.
  4. Stir in buttermilk and milk until dough forms.
  5. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough into ½ inch.
  6. Using a biscuit cutter or glass, cut biscuits and place on a lightly greased baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 22 to 24 minutes or until light brown.
  8. Top with melted butter and serve.
